Description

More and more educators are struggling to integrate modern technologies into their classrooms. Lacking experience and confidence in teaching robotics and coding, they feel unprepared to address these kinds of topics in their lessons.

This course will tackle this challenge by offering a cutting-edge, affordable, and versatile introduction to these fundamental 21st-century skills.

Participants will be introduced to the basics of coding and robotics using Edison robots, which will provide them with the skills and confidence necessary to integrate these technologies into their everyday lesson planning.

Edison is a programmable robot designed to be a complete STEM teaching tool for coding and robotics education for students between the ages of 4-16 years old.

With its many functions and compatibility with a range of programming languages, including barcodes, block-based coding, and Python, Edison is a great launchpad for robotics, coding, and multi-disciplinary learning in areas such as music, language, and the sciences.

It is designed for school classrooms to assist teachers in delivering meaningful conceptual thinking, computer programming, and 21st-century skills through engaging, hands-on learning.

During the course, participants will learn how to set up and use Edison robots, while also understanding the main principles of coding.

They will design engaging lesson plans that include robotics activities, ensuring to align with the pedagogical requirements.

The course will also focus on practical tasks like programming robot movements, integrating sensors, and planning group projects to foster students’ problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to use Edison robots as powerful tools to plan interactive and engaging lessons.

They will have learned how to effectively use technology in the classroom, which will make their students more involved and ready for future STEM and STEAM opportunities.
