Description
As digital technologies, notably generative AI, become increasingly widespread, many are anxious about how they could impact the environment.
Indeed, even though digital technologies hold the potential to address climate change, they contribute significantly to carbon emissions, surpassing even the aviation industry in their environmental footprint.
As educators, we have a professional duty to equip our students with the skills necessary for a green transition, and this also entails stressing the ethical and sustainable use of digital technology.
This course, aligned with the European GreenComp framework, will provide participants with the strategies and resources to easily incorporate sustainable principles into their teaching.
Through hands-on activities, collaborative workshops, and practical applications, participants will learn how to:
Foster a culture of digital sustainability in their classrooms;
Advocate for equitable access to sustainable digital tools and resources, ensuring inclusivity in technology education;
Promote green tech solutions and future-oriented thinking;
Develop critical thinking skills and understand the interconnections between digital, environmental, social, and economic systems to make informed decisions;
Effectively communicate the importance of digital sustainability and share best practices with students, peers, and stakeholders;
Foster collaboration among students, educators, administrators, and the wider community;
Cultivate a culture of continuous learning, staying updated with the latest green technologies and practices.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to implement innovative strategies for integrating digital sustainability into their educational practices.
They will also leave with ready-made school plans that can be immediately implemented upon their return, as well as ideas for more comprehensive events and initiatives with a broader impact, aimed at encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices as soon as possible.

Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
