Description

School leaders are expected to guide the digital transformation, integrating Artificial Intelligence to improve educational outcomes and administrative efficiency.  

Hands-on training is crucial to successfully implementing AI tools and showing the way to innovative change.  

This course will introduce participants to the basics of digital leadership and the responsible use of AI tools in education.

School leaders will acquire the ability to incorporate AI into their classrooms and schools, not only fostering innovative thinking but also improving student engagement and school management.  

During this course, participants will learn how to use AI tools like ChatGPT for assessment, personalized learning, feedback, and administrative tasks.

They will also examine ethical considerations arising from the use of AI in education, concerning, for instance, privacy and bias, while developing digital transformation plans tailored to their schools’ needs. 

By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to lead their schools with confidence, improving teaching and learning by using AI tools and new technologies to prepare their staff and students for the future of education

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply digital leadership:
    • Grasp the principles of digital leadership and how to guide schools through digital transformation;
    • Identify leadership styles that foster innovation and effective technology adoption.
  • Use AI tools to support teaching and learning:
    • Gain practical experience with AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other LLMs to assist teachers in lesson planning, grading, and student feedback;
    • Learn to simplify administrative tasks using AI, improving efficiency.
  • Address ethical concerns in AI:
    • Understand the ethical implications of AI in education, including data privacy and responsible use;
    • Develop guidelines for ensuring AI is used ethically in schools.
  • Develop a digital strategy for your school:
    • Create a digital transformation plan tailored to your school’s needs, focusing on improving both teaching practices and administrative processes;
    • Learn how to lead your staff and students in adopting digital tools to improve learning outcomes.

Tentative schedule

Day 1 – Leading digital transformation

(Wednesday afternoon)

  • Welcome session, course overview, and expectations;
  • Icebreaker: Meet and greet with fellow participants;
  • Introduction to digital leadership principles;
  • Potential AI applications for administrative efficiency and student support;
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI-powered assessment platforms;
  • Guided Cultural Tour of Brussels

Day 2 – Ethical AI and digital leadership

(Thursday morning)

  • Ethical implications of using AI in schools, including privacy, bias, and accountability;
  • Leadership strategies to foster innovation in school staff and students;
  • Promoting a growth mindset and encouraging digital fluency in school communities;
  • Practical tools and strategies to apply AI for individualized instruction;
  • Presentations of digital transformation strategies and action plans for feedback.

Day 3 – Course closure, action plans, and reflection

(Friday morning)

  • Creating an action plan for digital transformation;
  • Reflection on personal leadership growth and practical steps to take back to their schools;
  • Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
  • Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance.
