Digital Coaching for Adult Educators

Description

Many vulnerable adults – such as those experiencing unemployment, social exclusion, or trauma – often face barriers to learning and employment due to a lack of formal qualifications or due to rapidly changing digital demands and market-relevant skills.

For Adult Educators, digital coaching can serve as a powerful tool to support learning, empowerment, and social integration in many interconnected ways.

This course will introduce participants to practical and supportive coaching techniques, designed to help educators guide and motivate adult learners in diverse contexts.

Throughout the program, participants will experiment with coaching strategies, inclusive tools, and digital platforms that promote both personal growth and workplace wellbeing.

They will explore various types of learning management systems, mobile learning & microlearning apps, and collaboration and social platforms.

All of that while reflecting on how to make digital learning accessible and engaging for vulnerable people.

Special attention will be given to digital well-being, stress management, and work–life balance, helping educators design supportive environments able to foster self-efficacy and sustainable learning.

Through guided activities and peer exchange, participants will also explore how digital tools can enhance motivation, resilience, and community connection.

By the end of this course, participants will have developed practical digital coaching skills that can be adapted to Adult Education contexts and learnt how to build a personalized digital toolkit for learning and social reintegration.

Finally, they will be able to design an action plan ready to be implemented in their own teaching or training practice, and offer vulnerable adults valuable skills and tools to prepare them for reintegration and social inclusion.

Learning outcomes

The course will help participants to:

• Define principles and practices of digital coaching in Adult Education;
• Recognize the importance of lifelong learning, upskilling, and digital literacy for social and professional reintegration;
• Develop and practice core coaching skills tailored to Adult Education settings;
• Explore and apply digital tools and platforms for coaching, mentoring, and learner engagement;
• Identify and address common barriers to participation among vulnerable or marginalised groups;
• Explore and apply a range of digital tools and platforms to support coaching, mentoring, and learner engagement;
• Design inclusive and supportive digital learning environments that promote motivation, confidence, and collaboration;
• Create inclusive, supportive digital learning environments;
• Adapt digital coaching methods to different real-world educational and community setting;
• Utilize the digital toolkit to connect with vulnerable adults.

Tentative schedule

Day 1 – Introduction to the course

• Introduction to the course, the school, and the external week activities;
• Icebreaker activities;
• Presentations of the participants’ schools.

Course introduction and foundations

• What is digital coaching? Core principles and benefits for Adult Learners;
• Group Discussion: Reflection on participants’ contexts and coaching needs.

Day 2 – Core digital coaching skills for adult educators

• Investigating coaching strategies for inclusion and learners’ engagement;
• Building trust and empathy in coaching relationships;
• Exploring techniques to foster positive, supportive digital learning cultures.

Day 3 – Digital tools and platforms for engagement and lifelong learning

• Exploring digital platforms, apps, and learning management systems (Mentimeter, Miro);
• Designing inclusive digital coaching activities that build confidence and group belonging;
• Examining the practical application of digital tools for different learning scenarios.

Day 4 – Inclusive practices and digital literacy for wellbeing

• Mastering strategies to overcome barriers to participation for vulnerable adults;
• Testing digital tools for wellbeing and work-life balance (Headspace, Calm, or Insight Timer);
• Applying coaching to support resilience and prevent burnout in educators and learners.

Day 5 – Action planning and personalised digital toolkits

• Investigate case studies and best practices in digital coaching for Adult Learners;
• Develop a personal digital coaching action plan;
• Experimenting with collaborative tools (Zoom breakout rooms, Miro, Trello) for ongoing peer support.

Day 6 – Course closure and cultural activities

• Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
• Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
• Excursion and other external cultural activities.
