The listed audiences are those for whom the course is especially recommended, but courses are not exclusive to them and are open to everyone. In fact, most of our workshops are built around the collective sharing of participants’ experiences and having a variety of profiles enriches the learning process and is highly encouraged!
Description
Children do not separate play and learning; teachers should not as well. Play and learning are often separated in academic settings.
Teachers’ abilities to implement play-based learning are hindered due to several factors such as: curriculum requirements, pressure from caregivers, curriculum standards, assessment and testing, classroom management, etc.
In this course, participants will dive into the world of play-based learning. They will learn that play comes naturally to children, as play allows them to learn and discover the world.
The course will introduce different types of play as well as the teachers’ role in facilitating play-based learning. Participants will acquire knowledge related to different play stages, conditions of play-based learning, and challenges of play-based learning in early childhood education.
Participants will design play-based learning activities, present them, and discuss how to implement them in their classes. They will learn how to transfer their classrooms and schools into play-based learning environments.
By the end of the course, participants will learn how to make play-based learn a part of their everyday teaching practices. They will be able to design and implement play-based activities that are authentic and age-appropriate.
Finally, they will explore how play and learning are never separated. Instead, play-based experiences allow the facilitator to assess the child’s acquisition of learning outcomes and progress.
